I found out I had a voicemail message from someone interested in hiring me for a freelance project. I goofed & neglected to check my messages. So the message could have been there at least a couple days.
I looked up the number & it appeared to be a business, so I decided that even though today is Sunday and I do try to respect peoples' religious & family days, I would go ahead & call and leave a message of apology for my lateness.
To my surprise, the man named Joe answered the phone. Although the voicemail message was friendly & said someone had recommended me, this voice was NOT friendly & said, "Let's talk about this after the holidays."
Well, okay. So I put a reminder in my phone to call him again on Thursday, January 5th.
I don't expect him to be very friendly then, either. I think he was giving me the blow off. The thing is, if you want to give me the blow off, you can come right out & say that you're no longer interested. I am a big girl, I can take it. But if you say, "Let's talk about this after the holidays, then I will contact you after the holidays.
The project doesn't sound like something I really want to do, but I do need the work. So I'll have to stick my neck out & hope he doesn't get snippy with me on January 5th.
I will have to remember to check my messages every morning.
