I take vitamin B complex, sublingual B12, vitamin E, D-3, omega 3, magnesium, calcium, zinc, Co-Q10 enzyme, etc. I am sure I missed some.
I used to have to take prescription levels of D but I got it back up to low normal level. I've done a lot of research on what vitamins I most need and what levels.
Whenever you start to feel low, eat a banana. Let them get as dark and spotty as you can stand to eat them. The uglier they are, the more serotonin they have in them.
Anyone with any chronic condition is at risk for depression, but I think chronic pain is the worst for that. I would say that depression is only about 20% of my symptoms. Pain and fatigue & lack of motivation are my worst factors. I'm going to go to a psychiatrist on our health plan (if I can find a decent one) and get tested for ADHD/ADD and get help for a lot of my mess :) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is something that I think will help me a lot too.
I really think genetics/neurological issues/brain chemicals are most of the problem, being triggered & stirred up by hormonal changes. The newest research is that Fibromyalgia is a neuro-immune problem.
I don't spend a lot of time whining, but I do feel like I have the flu 24/7. Lying around will make me stiff as a board. I've learned techniques like pacing...which is alternating a physical task with a sedentary one.
In some ways, the Fibro has helped the kids, because I can't jump in and do everything for them. lol
I really thought that the pain & fatigue would ease up once I got the CPAP, but they haven't - my sleep apnea isn't about age or weight, it's from the autonomic nervous system. Breathing is supposed to be automatic, but many people with Fibromyalgia have this problem. They also have difficulty getting into and staying in the deeper levels of sleep that are restorative.
My mental ability came back from using the cpap though. I'll take what I can get! :)
