Feeling like skin is burning

If you feel like your skin is burning, but it's not even red, you'll start to wonder if you are losing your mind. Nah, you're not. I have that too. It is a new symptom I have experienced lately. It is very uncomfortable.

From what I've found out from good old Doctor Google, it's called Allodynia. So those of you looking for baby girl names, there you go -- Allodynia.

I've found myself taking packages of bacon etc out of the fridge just to rest it on my arms a bit. Whatever works to make it feel cooler. Picture me putting a package of BACON on my arm. BACON! It is so funny, but whatever funny thing gets me through the day, I'm completely okay with it. Just another way bacon blesses our lives. lol!!!!

"Hey honey, pass me that Allodynia bacon, will ya?"

Oh back to the painful skin burning feeling. I may have figured it out (at least for myself). We know that Fibromyalgia is a pain amplification problem, right? Most of my skin burning is on my arms, and one day when I was toweling off after a bath I realized that maybe even the friction of the towel on my arm was enough to set off the pain signals. Even though it doesn't hurt AT THE TIME is immaterial. Because any of us with Fibro know that the pain isn't evident right away, it's sometimes even days later. One time I played too much Fruit Ninja and my finger hurt a couple days later -- ("oh yeah, I played too much Fruit Ninja. Of course.")

Oh my gammit, isn't Fibro ridiculous?  I mean, let's laugh about it instead of letting it upset us and make use feel worse.

So anyway, I'm trying to remember now to gently pat my skin and not rub it with the towel and see if that helps reduce Allodynia.

I hope this helps you a little bit. The skin burning can be very upsetting. Let me know if this tip helps you at all. Leave a comment please.
